Preserving Emirate Traditions
Many of the traditional Emirate
sports are being ignored by inhabitants and awareness must be supported to
preserve such sports like falconry, Arabian Saluki hunting, dhow racing and
others in Bedouin culture. Emirates national identity must be shown to all
people coming to the country. Airports are good places to start to reflect the Emirati heritage and culture. Educational methods, schools and universities are
part of the problem as most instructors are expatriate and do not care about
Emirates traditions. The traditional sports came in the old days, all animals
are still exist and the new generation must get benefits of them in order to
keep the past alive for the future. Because of technology and internet, young
people are not aware of their tradition, and in order to keep them aware we
need to teach them from birth. Traditional practices can be merged in the
recreational sports like beauty contests and racing competitions.
